Lady-Gaga-Louis-Vuitton-Spring-2014-Look

Lady Gaga was recently spotted in London promoting her new album ARTPOP. She was rocking the freaking hell out of a Louis Vuitton look from next season’s spring 2014 collection.  The meshed top, jacquard pant, and feathered headpiece went down the runway exactly how Gaga has styled the look in this post. The sort of seamless blend of city grunge and high fashion feel a bit more staged here then the typical paparazzi shots we see on blogs –but, artistically, I love it! I feel like I’m watching this sort of personal moment between the paparazzi and his subject.

At first, I didn’t think the headpiece feathers would really work for anything other than runway or seasonal campaigns, but Gaga has this method of clashing reality and fantasy in a way that feels right.  I definitely expect to see feather inspired pieces popping up over the next few years! Think about The Great Gatsby, tribal or cultured looks, and the super modern 90s inspired mix of high and low fashion.  Feathers are pretty much the go to texture for most of those styles! Check out this circa 1940  feathered coat from the “Flights Of Fancy” exhibit at The Goldstein Museum Of Design.  Clearly we’d all wear this today–especially if it came in a pastel, neutral or black!

Back to Gaga in this Louis Vuitton, a major part of me wants to see her as the face for the brand’s Spring 2014 ad campaign, wby?

What are your thoughts on the massive headpiece and feathers slowly becoming a thing?
